Anita, 26, hopes to raise money for Cancer Research UK
A self-confessed non-runner is set to tackle the Race for Life in honour of her late mum and to thank the charity that supported her.
Anita Searle, 26, of Lower Brook Meadow, Sidford, is hoping that sharing her story will help to raise awareness of cancer and the importance of research.
Anita has not run at all since school, but is determined to complete the 5km distance at Westpoint, Exeter, on Sunday, July, 24, as a tribute to her mum, Barbara.
Anita said: “My mum lost her battle with cancer at the end of last year and I wanted to do something in her honour, show my support and raise awareness. “I’m aiming to raise £150 for Cancer Research UK because the charity gave us a lot of support so I wanted to do something to show my appreciation. I’ve not really run before so it will be quite an achievement.”
