HAVING run out of businesses in Sidford to approach for sponsorship of the annual Christmas tree outside St Peter's Church, Sid Vale Athletics is turning to residents for help.

"Different people have sponsored the tree in the past but we have run out of people to ask," said Marion Perry, secretary of Sid Vale Athletics Club, which organises the tree display.

"We are appealing to the generosity of local people to help us raise enough money to buy new lights and a tree to put outside the church.

"We would be very happy to raise 100," said Marion.
