A KIND-HEARTED 100-year-old has handed 300 collected at her birthday celebrations in Sidmouth to Cancer Research UK.

Great grandmother Janie Pile was helped in raising the bumper sum by family, friends and staff at Radway Lodge, where she has lived for ten years, as she enjoyed her special day.

She handed over the money to Lenny Titherington, manager of Sidmouth’s Cancer Research shop, on Wednesday.

Lenny said: “300 is a lot of money and we’re very grateful for it. It will help a lot of people- it’s a terrific amount.”
