DRIVERS in Ottery St Mary face a 'marginal' chance of being left without fuel this week as fears over shortages hit the county. The town's fuel station had their delivery held back from Saturday to Tuesday, however the lack of panic buying means there is only a small chance of a drought.Manager of the service station on Hind St, Vince Sweeney, said: "There was a delivery due for the weekend which was put back until Tuesday but the risk of running out is marginal."Adding that there had been a slight increase in the amount of fuel being sold over the weekend but there wasn't any sign of panic buying.`The good news is bolstered by Sidmouth's service station receiving their deliverys on time, with their last scheduled for today.Manager of Sidmouth Self Service Jet garage, Tom McSkimming, said on Monday: "We have got plenty of fuel so we've got nothing to worry about at the moment."At the moment I am able to get my tankers through and with the last one for the week scheduled for Thursday hopefully that should be enough."However, with the next strike planned for between 6am Friday and 6am Tuesday he pointed out that the situation could change.Mr McSkimming added that drivers had gone absolutely manic and it was a shame that people do panic because that is where the problem comes from.He added that: "If people go about their daily business there would be enough fuel for everyone anyway."However, if fuels stocks diminish too far his petrol station would have to close due to them needing to keep reserves for the emergency services.
