Green initiative set for September

SIDMOUTH and Ottery residents have been urged to walk to work or school next month in a region-wide initiative. Devon Car Free Day returns on Wednesday, September 22. Everyone who takes part has the chance to enter categories for the ‘most creative’ way of travelling or ‘best team’ effort. Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: “People surprise us every year in coming up with new ways to travel. Obviously there’s an element of fun but there’s also a serious underlying message to promote green travel, cut congestion and reduce our carbon footprint.”
