CLAIMS that a man and woman were assaulted in Temple Street on Tuesday afternoon have sparked a police appeal for witnesses.

Sidmouth officers want anybody who may have seen the alleged incident, said to have taken place at a round 4pm, to contact them on 08452 777444, crime reference KS/09/477.
- Police said a man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an assault, and has been released on bail.
