DORMANT Badgers were woken up last Friday when a first-aid group for Sidmouth youngsters was resuscitated.

St John Ambulance members in the town hope for interest to grow in the organisation after bagging just one new recruit at the re-launch.

Youngsters, aged from five-years-of-age to ten, are invited to join the group and benefit from a range of activities every Friday.

The revived Sidmouth St John Badgers will meet weekly from 6pm to 7pm at the charity’s base in Blackmore Drive.

New leaders from Sidmouth came forward to re-vitalise the section.

“It’s an asset for the young people of Sidmouth and an asset for St John,” said St John Sidmouth superintendent Brian Johansen.

“We decided to re-launch them to try and interest young children in St John activities.

“It’s been a slow start but it will build up.”

Children can learn from 15 modules on subjects ranging from first-aid to safety in the home.

Anyone interested in the group can contact Brian on 07799667951.
