A YOUNG bookworm has won a prize in a Christmas competition organised by Sidmouth Library.

Reuben Bennett, five, was awarded second prize in a Christmas stocking contest asking booktrackers to say why they think books make brilliant Christmas presents. Reuben, of Malden Road, Sidmouth, was given a £5 book token by Sidmouth librarian, Meriel Santer, on Saturday.

Meriel said: "He was really excited and pleased to have won something and his whole family came to watch him being awarded his prize."

Reuben said he thought books were a good present "because I like listening to them".
