SIDMOUTH cadets celebrated the 25th anniversary of their headquarters last week.
On Tuesday, December 16 the 2019 Squadron Air Cadets celebrated the quarter of a century anniversary of their base which is fondly named "the hut".
The Cadets put on a variety show for family and friends before a buffet, all of which was cooked by the Cadets and their parents.
Flight Lieutenant J F C Lowe cut the 25th anniversary cake, certificates were given out to the Cadets and even Santa made an appearance.
Flight Lieutenant John Lowe said: "It was brilliant. Everybody pulled together and it was a super evening."
The 25th anniversary might be the huts last as the Air Cadets will soon be moving into brand new headquarters which will be shared with Army Cadets.
Mr Lowe added: "We thought we would take the opportunity to celebrate that and celebrate the youngsters.
"Each got a certificate and some got results of the exams which they didn't know they were getting and was quite a surprise."
The cadets have also been bag packing in Waitrose this week to raise money to but six hand held radios which cost in excess of £180 each.
Mr Lowe said: "We desperately need this equipment. It helps to keep them safe as they are on a different frequency no one else can listen in to them.
"Waitrose like us to be there as they say we are a calming influence to people buying their last bits and bobs for Christmas."
The Cadets will be bag packing from 10am-4pm on Wednesday, December 24.
