Supporters welcomed to thanksgiving service for Sidmouth Living With Cancer group
TO celebrate its 10th anniversary, Sidmouth Living With Cancer will hold a thanksgiving service in All Saints Church, on Friday, December 2 from 7pm.
Bill and Evelyn Lankester, who, with others, founded the support group, say the service is “to let us all say thanks for the joy of life and for the fellowship of all members past and present.”
They hope the church will be full, and past, as well as present, members have been invited, along with local councillors and leaders of organisations that support the group.
“Anybody that has given us support is welcome,” said Bill, who will talk briefly about the history of the group and its achievements.
Several ministers, under the direction of the Reverend Roger Trumper, will conduct the service and there will be an input from some of SLWC’s members, who will be in their yellow T-shirts.
Bill said: “We are all proud of the success of the group and cannot thank the local organisations and members of the public enough for the help they have given us.”
Without the help of the community the group would never have raised the £52,000 it did to buy a mini-bus to use for its members and others in the Sid Valley.
After the service, a finger buffet will be held in the church hall.
