Money raised at a Sidmouth care home garden party was donated to a charity for the blind by its oldest resident.
Margaret Mills, 103, asked to present Holmesley’s £300 cheque to Guide Dogs for the Blind after learning of their fundraising needs.
A talk from volunteer Adrian Sparkes revealed the dogs cost £50,000 throughout their lifetime, and £200,000 has to be raised in the local area each year.
The centre’s next charity event is a coffee morning for Macmillan from 10.30am today (Friday, September 27).
