Three Sidmouth organisations benefit from town’s carnival procession profits

THREE £100 cheques have been presented to Sidmouth organisations by members of Sidmouth Carnival Committee.

The committee held a presentation evening at The Balfour recently, to hand over the proceeds from this year’s procession.

Carnival queen, Rosie Davis-Stokes, handed over one £100 cheque to Trevor Fogwill of St John Ambulance, while her princess, Jasmine Doorman, presented another to Matt Baker of Sidmouth Fire Station. A third went to Sidmouth Lifeboat.

Rosie had a dual role on the night as she plays with the town’s steel band, Steel Force, which provided music on the night.

Carnival chairman, Terry Clarke, said: “The committee attended and locals from the pub joined in.

“I am very pleased with the carnival profit, it was a very successful night.”

Terry is currently hoping for more volunteer to help with organising 2012’s procession and planning fundraising events.
