Sidmouth causes get town council grants

SIDMOUTH Town Council has awarded a total of £8,590 to a dozen causes and organisations in the parish.

Sidmouth Town Band and a science festival were the biggest beneficiaries – bagging £2,000 and £1,500 respectively. A job club and carnival fun will also benefit.

Councillors discussed who should receive funding when they discussed grant applications during behind-closed-doors talks on Monday. Organisations set to receive money in 2012/13 will be:

● The Apple Tree Pre-School - £230 -

● The Army Cadet Force Sidmouth Detachment - £390

● Delderfield centenary celebrations in 2012 - £500

● Royal British Legion Sidmouth Branch - £500

● Sid Valley Horticultural Society - £250

● Sid Valley Job Club - £1,000

● Sid Valley Memory Café - £1,000

● Sidbury Millennium Green - £700

● Sidford Playgroup - £250

● Sidmouth Carnival - £500

● Sidmouth Science Festival - £1,500

● Sidmouth Town Band - £2,000.
