Sidmouth Town Band and Gospel Choir join the Royal British Legion and army cadets to celebrate Armed Forces Day

Sidmouth’s Armed Forces Day parade on Saturday June 30 brought people out of the town centre shops to watch and cheer.
Members of the Royal British Legion and the army cadets marched down the High Street and along the Esplanade in glorious sunshine.
The parade continued to The Ham, where a service was led by the Reverend Robert Chavaner.
Ralph Hickman from the Sidmouth Royal British Legion was parade marshall, overseeing the march and assembling the company on The Ham.

He said the hot weather did not cause much of a problem: “The temperature was not too bad when we started out, and there was a cool sea breeze. By the time we were finishing off, it was getting very warm and we gave out bottles of water. We didn’t have any casualties.”
He welcomed the involvement of the Sidmouth Town Band, and the Sidmouth Gospel Choir who sang along with the hymns.
