A young cancer sufferer’s boredom in hospital will be relieved, thanks to a Sidmouth fundraising event.
Geoffrey Ward and Selwyn Kussman, owners of Littlecourt Cottages, held a charity open garden day and collected £1,458 in aid of Richard’s Wish, which helps children with cancer, and the National Garden Scheme (NGS), which supports various cancer charities. The £750 given to Richard’s Wish has been used to buy an iPad for a young girl, from Devon, with a brain tumour. The remaining money was given to the NGS. Geoffrey said they decided to raise money for Richard’s Wish because of the help it gave 16-year-old Charlotte Reid, who was suffering with a brain tumour - her grandmother has worked at Littlecourt for 18 years. He added: “They are worthwhile causes and we are thrilled to have been able to raise such a huge amount.”
