A SID Valley charity bade a fond farewell to a dedicated worker who retired after 17 years of loyal service.

Sidmouth Voluntary Services’ (SVS) chief warden at Twyford House, Lesley West, was praised as always being a friendly face for clients.

She stood down from her role as she wanted to spend more time with her family - but has vowed to keep in touch with the cause and will help with the coffee making from time to time.

“The warden’s job is very important to SVS,” said charity chairman Hilary Hatherley.

“She keeps the whole of Twyford House running, books out the various rooms for hire, attends to the list of clients for lunches as well as helping out in the kitchen.

“She also liaises between the many groups that meet at Twyford House and attends the management meetings.

“We send Lesley our best wishes for the future and a happy retirement.”
