Sidmouth churches back shoebox appeal

PUBLISHED: 14:45 30 September 2010

PRIMLEY United Reformed Church and Sidmouth Methodist Church are inviting people to fill shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

The shoeboxes will go to children in displaced persons’ camps, homeless shelters and impoverished neghbourhoods worldwide.

To send a box, you need to pick up a leaflet from either of the churches, which can also provide boxes, and cover the box and lid in Christmas paper separately. Fill it with items from the Christmas Child list only, and enclose a £2.50 donation or pay online. Seal the box with a rubber band.

Blessing and dedication services for the boxes will be held at the Methodist church on October 31 at 10.30am and Primley on November 7. The deadline for returning boxes to Primley is noon on November 5. For more information call Sandra Tyler (01395) 578352 or Brenda Moss on (01395) 512667.
