Sidmouth churches get youth work boost

PUBLISHED: 11:26 26 November 2011

ANGLICAN churches in Sidmouth are celebrating a successful application to the Diocese of Exeter’s Million for Mission fund.

Around £3,500 will be used to finance start-up costs for Kate Hamilton in her role as children’s and youth pastor.

The one-off fund was released from diocese reserves to support growth and mission initiatives in Devon, helping local churches reach out into their communities.

Kate, who has been in post since January, told the Herald: “I am very encouraged that even in this age of increasing pressures on church funds, mission is considered such a priority by the Church of England that this sort of funding has been made available.”

Anyone who wants to find out more about Kate’s work can contact her at youth@sidvalley.org.uk, or by calling 07588 817590.
