A retired cinematographer has turned Hollywood producer after he joined a team reviving a pioneering panoramic technology.
Mike Edgecumbe, now proudly part of the Cinerama team, and his wife Joan will join delegates from around the world at the National Science and Media Museum for its Wide Screen Weekend.
Today (Friday) will see the premier of the remastered version of the Cinerama classic Windjammer. And young Jack Collin is set to show his short film of Mike setting up his Omniscope system for a Cinerama screening. The 74-year-old’s next project is to remaster The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm from the last remaining three-panel Cinerama print.
Windjammer will not be on general release or on DVD or Blu-ray until later next year but Mike plans to show his copy in Sidmouth after Christmas. Before then – by public request – he will rescreen Cinerama’s Russian Adventure.
