Sidmouth College students and staff raise £762 for Comic Relief

WHEN it comes to having fun and fundraising at the same time, then Sidmouth College students know how to go about it.

This year’s Red Nose Day on Friday was no exception, with plenty of activities going on during the day to relieve money from pockets for a good cause. And a massive £762.53 will be sent to Comic Relief.

While some teachers, such as English teacher Lindsay Skinner, braved the cold outdoors to have wet sponges thrown at them by students to raise cash, Sue Perryman, kitchen manager, dressed up with her seven staff as fierce pirates, selling more than 150 Red Nose biscuits during breaktimes.

Assistant kitchen manager Jenny Patch baked some giant Red Nose biscuits which were raffled and in the gym, teaching assistant Julie Claydon got feet tapping during a 40-minute dance-a-thon for the charity.

Sidbury Primary School pupils also got in the Red Nose mood on Friday, making £1 donations to hold a non-uniform day and wear unusual hats.
