Students were given a taste of the real world at a jobs taster day on Wednesday.

The Careers Roundabout gave Year Nine pupils at Sidmouth College the opportunity to reverse a tractor around a car park, take part in a mock court trial, and cook with a hotel chef.

Representatives from a variety of organisations gave up their time to show the youngsters careers they may never have considered.

Careers co-ordinator Nicki Young said: “We are extremely grateful to the representatives from many local businesses and organisations who gave their time so that the students could get a very real insight into a diverse range of careers.”

The companies were as diverse as the Devon and Cornwall Police, the NHS, Sainsbury’s, AC Archaeology and Exeter University.
