A SIDMOUTH College teacher has expressed his disappointment at missing out on competing in his 20th London Marathon this year - after breaking his hip and arm in two places.
Marathon veteran and English lecturer Trevor Cope, 54, had hoped to add to the 25,000 he has raised for charities in sponsorship over the years but a recent fall put an end to his aspirations.
He said: "I had a very unpleasant fall on Woodbury Common- I was fortunate to be with my son at the time and to have the help from large number of passers by.
"Needless to say I will not be running the London Marathon this year, the first one I have missed since 1990.
