WORK on Sidmouth’s long-awaited Stowford Rise Community Centre is progressing at a pace, says the contractor intent on completing the venue in mid-August.

Bridgwater-based firm Pollard is more than half way into its 41-week construction project - with a roof now completed and windows installed to make the structure watertight.

Managing Director, Bill Badham, said: “Our site manager, Les Webber, has once again delivered a project we can be proud of.

“We are focussed on ensuring that all of our projects are completed on target, to the highest quality and to budget and this scheme is certainly achieving that”.

Community driving forces behind the hub last week visited the Ivybridge Watermark Centre to gather helpful information on how to run Sidmouth’s soon-to-be opened venue.

“We spent the day there and came away with much information about marketing, utility costs and solar energy,” said Jan Jones of Baker Close.
