THIS month celebrates the first anniversary of Sidmouth Community Market, set up by Sustainable Sidmouth, part of the Vision Group for Sidmouth.
By popular demand, it is celebrating its birthday by moving back to St John Ambulance Hall, Blackmore Drive.
The main focus of the venture has been to promote local producers who have little or no route to market.
Regular stallholders support the market, selling vegetables, trout, pork, beef, preserves, honey and cakes with some different stalls from month to month that sell homemade toys, clothes, bags and plants.
There is often a community stall for locals to sell their own goods, such as excess fruit and vegetables.
Last month a seedling stall raised money for the new Community Garden on Mill Town Lane.
The next market is tomorrow, Saturday, June 12, from 10am to 12.30pm. Entry is free but bring your own shopping bags.
To find out more visit www.visionforsidmouth.org or phone Kerry on 07973137592.
The community market originally intended to help customers reduce food miles and consider where their food comes from. Now the food stalls have been joined by some local craft stalls selling local produce.
It also provides homemade refreshments and a place to sit and chat.
