A SIDFORD man with a passion for cycling is looking for help in his quest to pedal to national and international success.

A SIDFORD man with a passion for cycling is looking for help in his quest to pedal to national and international success.

Bar manager at The Marine on Sidmouth's Esplanade in the evenings, Phil Borrett, 28, dedicates his free time to gruelling five hour training session to keep himself in shape for cycling team Bikinmotion.

The team, which is made up of six riders from around the region, has been topped South-West rankings for the last two years, pedalling its way to victory in more than 20 races and time trials that vary between 70 and 100 miles.

Phil and his team-mates are looking for commercial sponsorship that will help them compete in the national and international races.

Team player Phil said: "I'm no Lance Armstrong leading the pack, we all play different roles in different races over mixed terrains and distances.

"We train three to four times a week, putting in 20 hours while holding down full time jobs.

"We need extra support to be able to pay for petrol, food and overnight stays, costs that are especially hard for the younger members of the team to find."

"This year want to make the team even more successful and plan to ride in the top races in the UK called Premier calendar races. We also have invitations to races in France and April and September" .

"Some events here can be one man and his dog, but the national races get better support and in France they are even bigger."

"Its all about climbing up a level and competing- we need a bit of extra help."

To sponsor the team contact Phil on 07989 539170.
