Donkey walks volunteers must be fit and confident to talk to groups of visitors

SIDMOUTH Donkey Sanctuary is looking for local outdoor enthusiasts to help out with guided walks this summer.

Set in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Sidmouth sanctuary offers many stunning walks for its 200,000 visitors each year.

Comprehensive walk guide booklets are available at the sanctuary, but it would like to continue offering its popular guided walks.

To do this, volunteers are needed. They must be reasonably fit to tackle the walks; some lasting two hours, and others with stiles and steep inclines.

Enthusiasm and confidence in talking to groups of visitors is also a must.

Visitor facilities manager, Dean Hancock, said: “We’d like to be able to offer our visitors some extra information about this very special area and believe that nothing beats the personal touch.

“For people who would like to get out and about or would like to learn more about their local area then this offers a great opportunity to get involved in the work of the sanctuary.”

Volunteers will be given full training, including background information about the sanctuary’s history and its donkeys.
