Supporting Mr D Green's application to carry out the extensions on Chestnuts, at Sidmouth Town Council's planning committee on Wednesday, Councillor John Dyson said "It is a significant addition to the house...I think the plot is large enough and I can't see any problem with it."
There have been no letters of objection.
Councillor Peter Sullivan said: "It will not overlook anyone because of the size of the properties."
The committee will inform EDDC of its support.
