Sidmouth fire crew tackles bus blaze and other news

Firefighters from Sidmouth were among those who raced to a stretch of the A3052, between the town and Seaton, following reports a bus was on fire. Read this and more.

BEACH DRAMA: Rescuers and emergency services raced to Sidmouth’s Jacob’s Ladder when fears were expressed for a woman who had entered the sea last Friday (March 16).

Police asked for help when the female, in her 30s, was seen going into the water at around 9.10am.

Coastguard rescue officers and Sidmouth Lifeboat were tasked to the scene.

A police spokesman said the woman was helped out of the sea.

Coastguard and lifeboat rescuers arrived to find that the woman was clear of the water and in the care of police officers.

The woman was treated by an ambulance crew.

BUS BLAZE: Firefighters from Sidmouth were among those who raced to a stretch of the A3052, between the town and Seaton, following reports a bus was on fire.

A crew was tasked to the area at around 4.15pm on Wednesday.

On arrival, the firefighters, and colleagues from Seaton, discovered a small fire was in the engine compartment of the bus.

A hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher were used to extinguish the flames.
