Fire crews in Sidmouth were called in to action this morning (Friday) to rescue a man from a lift.

Two appliances from the Woolbrook Road station attended the property in Cotmaton Road at 11.26am.

A Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue spokesman said:“Both of the Sidmouth appliances were sent to a male who was trapped in a lift that had stopped mid floor at Cotmaton Road.

“Crews isolated the power to the lift and manually opened the doors.

“The male was lifted from the stranded car by firefighters.”
