Sidmouth firefighters were put through their paces on Tuesday in a road traffic collision exercise.
Watch manager Steve Crabb set the crew the task of rescuing an imaginary unconscious and trapped driver inside a vehicle on its side.
The firefighters first stabilised the car so access could be gained. They used hydraulic cutters to cut a post and a saw to cut the roof before folding it back ‘like a tin can’ to extract the casualty - making sure sharp edges were protected to avoid injury to the driver or rescuers.
