The station is holding an open evening on Wednesday for prospective new recruits to learn about the role.
Sidmouth Fire Station is holding an open evening for prospective retained firefighters on Wednesday.
The team is looking for residents who live within five minutes of the station to be on call in case of emergency.
Applicants need to be over 18 and have a good level of fitness and strength. No previous experience is required as full training is provided.
A Devon and Somerset Fire Service spokesman said: “Being on-call means that you provide a level of cover whilst at work or at home and when you are needed your pager will alert you to attend the station.”
The event will run from 6pm to 9pm at the fire station on Woolbrook Road.
