EFFORTS to keep residents and tourists safe during this year's Folk Festival have been hailed a success by police.

During the popular week policing teams arrested a man wanted on a drugs warrant by Avon & Somerset Police and recovered a stolen vehicle, arresting the three occupants.

Neighbourhood teams worked in plain cloths for the duration of the festival to help fight crime. They detected 45 drugs offences of Class A, B and C drugs and arrested 2 men for the theft of a camera.

There were 6 arrests for public order and shoplifting offences. Three missing children were located and reunited with their family.

Sergeant Andy Turner said "The policing teams in Sidmouth worked hard to ensure the town was a safe place during the festival. We're extremely pleased with the success and that we helped deliver a successful Sidmouth Folk Festival again this year.
