SIDMOUTH FolkWeek org-anisers hope alcohol can be served and live entertainment and music allowed until 11pm at Blackmore Coronation Gardens for a week this summer.

Organisers have asked East Devon District Council (EDDC) if a new licensed premises can be situated at the town-centre spot from July 28 to August 6.

They have applied for permission to provide regulated entertainment, in the form of live and recorded music, performances and dance, and to put in place entertainment facilities for making music and dance, at Blackmore Gardens from 9.30am to 11pm.

They also want alcohol to be served there from 12noon to 11pm. If the bid is successful, the Blackmore Gardens venue will have opening hours from 9.30am to 11.15pm.

A public consultation over the request ended last month with a decision set to be revealed shortly.
