Gardening experts on had at Rotary’s Gardener’s Question Time

TOP gardeners will be on hand to answer questions at a Gardener’s Question Time organised by Sid Valley Rotary Club.

“It is not very often that you find a group of experts available and willing to answer the many complex questions posed by knowledgeable gardeners,” said James Trevett of Sidmouth Garden Centre, who is hosting the event at the garden centre from 7pm on Thursday, April 19.

The panel of experts for this second GQT organised by Rotarians, come from Devon and Dorset.

Leading the panel will be Toby Buckland, who presented the BBC 2’s flagship gardening programme Gardener’s World for two years. Toby won the 2008 Royal Horticulture Association’s Gold award and Best in Show for his ‘Ethical Garden’ in the Gardener’s World Live show, and has recently launched an online plant nursery.

Clive Groves is from Grove Nurseries of Bridport which is famed for its collection of Victorian Dorset violets, and recently recognised for its national collection of Parma violets.

Steve Martin is supervisor at Bystock House, noted for its large woodland garden and lakes and his successful leadership of Lympstone in Bloom.

“Not only will there be experts on hand but also a treasure trove of really great raffle prizes will be drawn by the panel on the night,” said Peter Brookes from Sid Valley Rotary Club.

Tickets, 10 to include light refreshments, are still available from Sidmouth Garden Centre and Coles, Sidmouth, for this entertaining and informative evening.

As a special prize, Sidmouth Garden Centre is donating a hamper full of gardening tools to the value of 50 and two free tickets to the event, to the lucky winner of our two-part competition.
