The Admiral Nurse Campaign has added another £6,440 to its fundraising pot through the efforts of Sidmouth Golf Club.
Sidmouth Golf Club members have been praised for their ‘amazing’ drive after raising more than £6,440 for the Admiral Nurse campaign.
Team captains Ray Gunston and Angela Coles supported the appeal as part of their year in charge and organised events in aid of the dementia nurse.
Members took part in the captain’s drive-in and charity days as well as sponsorship, auctions and raffles.
The club also organised a race night and an indoor sports evening to boost funds.
Adrian Ford, trustee for Sid Valley Memory Café, said the committee was ‘blown over’ by the club’s generosity.
He added: “This amazing donation will go a long way towards ensuring that our Admiral Nurse will be around for many years to support those families in the Sid Valley living with dementia.”
The captains praised members for their genorisity and enthusiasm to raise money for the charity.
Mr Gunston, outgoing men’s captain, said: “It is a local charity and that makes a difference, because it is a local project the response is very positive because the members are mainly from this area.
“The donation will hopefully go someway to help provide the dementia nurses whose experience in care and support are much needed in the Sid Valley community.”
His successor Richard Powell has chosen to support CLIC Sergent for the coming year.
