MEMBERS of Sidmouth Gospel Choir (SGC) celebrated success at the Devon Performing Arts Festival.
An adjudicator awarded the group a ‘commendation’ - which is described as ‘a convincing performance, technically and artistically.’
Sandra Smith, of Singing and Breathing, said: ‘It was fantastic to hear how good the choir sounds under the direction of their new leader, Angie Carney. It’s quite daunting to enter a competition for the first time and all the choirs felt the pressure and were quite nervous. For me, SGC broke through the formality of the competition and sang in a way that completely lifted the room.
“They got such a wonderful response from the audience and I was moved by the integrity of their singing. It certainly was one of the highlights of the afternoon.”
