THREE hit and run offences have taken place in Sidmouth in the last two weeks.

The offending drivers have caused damage to cars without reporting it to the police or leaving a note on the vehicles with their details.

The first hit and run took place on Monday, October 10 at All Saints Church car park in between 1.30pm-3pm. A green Toyota Corolla was found with the front bumper split.

The second incident happened overnight on Wednesday, October 15 to Thursday, October 16 at Salters Meadow. The owner of the car returned to find the front bumper had been damaged.

A third hit and run took place on Wednesday, October 15 at 3.10pm in Roxborough car park in Russell Street when a Ford Mondeo had been damaged.

Police have issued a warning to drivers that it is a crime not to report an accident.

A police spokesman said: "If caught the penalty is a prison sentence and or a fine. "Drivers can also have five to ten points taken off their licence or can be disqualified from driving.
