A BID to build a detached dwelling at St Kentigern in Alma Lane, Sidmouth, failed to win the backing of town councillors.
Sidmouth Town Council Planning Committee members were unable to support an outline application.
Members ruled new policies state this type of “garden development” should be restricted. They added, the town council “will always resist this type of application which minimises plot sizes in important areas of Sidmouth”. The district council will decide the fate of plans.
