SIDMOUTH Hospiscare is giving businesses and their staff the opportunity to recycle clothes and other items as part of the charity's 'D Day' appeal.
Organisations can sign up to the appeal, which stands for 'Donate, don't Dump', and choose a day on which their staff can bring in unwanted items which will then be sold in the shop.
Helen Hutter, Hospiscare's head of retail, said: "Many people who work simply don't have the time to take unwanted goods to a charity shop. What we are doing is giving them the chance to have a bit of clear out before Christmas and simply take the items to work with them, where they will be collected by Hospiscare. It's a very easy way of raising money, as good quality items will be sold in our shops as gifts.
"In particular, the kind of items that sell well are good quality clothing, books, accessories, bags, DVDs and toys, although all items in good condition will be gratefully received.
"And importantly, we don't necessarily expect people to bring bagfuls - individual items such as a favourite handbag, necklace, or DVD could be just the thing someone else is looking for."
To arrange a D Day at your place of work, contact Helen Hutter or Suzanne Rushforth at Hospiscare on (01392) 688000 or ask at Sidmouth's Hospiscare shop in Fore Street.
