SIDMOUTH'S hoteliers and caravan park owners have been urged to ensure all their televisions are ready for the Digital TV Switchover which begins in April.

Devon's four analogue transmitters will be switched off between April and August and tourist businesses are being encouraged to make the digital switch before the holiday season kicks off.

County Councillor Des Hannon, Executive Member responsible for helping DigitalUK to make a smooth switchover for Devon, said: "In the current economic conditions we can expect many more people to take their holidays in Devon this year. That's a big opportunity for our tourist industry but if we want those visitors to keep coming it's important to make TV preparations now."
