GARDEN competition winners have been announced by Sidmouth in Bloom – with a presentation evening set for October 24.
Organisers of the contest have promised changes for next year after a pair of categories – including one for children – attracted no entries.
However, the majority of sections were packed with fabulous floral efforts.
Cup winners will be announced at the presentation evening at Knowle next month. Invitations will be sent out.
Sidmouth in Bloom chairman, Lynette Talbot, said: “The standard for the domestic gardens was high as we have come to expect from our gardeners. The guest houses had some outstanding gardens and it would be great to hand out more than one cup for the main prize winners but unfortunately we can only select one in each category.
“Some categories did not have sufficient entries. There were very few entries from commercial buildings and shops.
“We would like to remind shop owners to fill in entry forms and do get into the spirit of the floral competition next year so that we have a good representation from the town.”
Existing bloom cup holders have been asked to return their cups to Sidmouth Town Council offices by September 24.
