Members of Sidmouth Lifeboat have been bowled over after being presented for a cheque for £1,000.

The Jurassic short mats bowls team donated proceeds from their annual charity inter-area tournament held in Axminster which was attended by more than 100 bowlers. Ian Fletcher, crew member of Sidmouth Lifeboat, said: “We were delighted to be chosen as the recipients and honoured that some of the players and committee members were able to come down to the boathouse in person and present the cheque.”

David Hayler, chairman of Jurassic Bowls, said he was pleased with the turn-out and standard of play during the all-day competition.

He added: “Jurassic Bowls endeavours to raise as much as possible for their chosen charity and on this occasion we were extremely pleased to present a cheque to Sidmouth Lifeboat. It was lovely to see that the stall set-up at the event to promote the lifeboat was attracting lots of interest.”
