The Lions Club of Sidmouth gave a £750 boost to an initiative providing access to the South West’s most scenic locations for anyone with limited mobility. Countryside Mobility works with partners at 40 different locations around the region, including Seaton Wetlands, to offer all-terrain mobility scooters – known as Trampers – for hire.
Lions club president Alan Shoesmith presented a cheque to Living Options Devon project manager Neil Warren and East Devon Countryside team leader Tim Dafforn.
Neil said: “Many people say how pleased they are when they discover the Tramper and the opportunities it opens up to explore the countryside with friends and family but, as a charity, we have limited resources to raise awareness.
“We’re therefore delighted to receive this generous support from Sidmouth Lions, which will help us work together to make more local people and visitors to East Devon aware of this fantastic opportunity on their doorstep.”
The charity is producing a video and a leaflet and will be hosting a taster day.
