Sidmouth Lions celebrate 32nd brithday
THE Lions Club of Sidmouth celebrated its 32nd birthday in style last week as more than 70 members an guests gathered to celebrate the occasion.
THE Lions Club of Sidmouth celebrated its 32nd birthday in style last week as more than 70 members an guests gathered to celebrate the occasion.
The Westcliff Hotel in Manor Road played host to the Lions as club President Roger Keylock, accompanied by wife Carole, presided over festivities which involved handing over a cheque for £300 to Children's Hospice South-West.
Past Sidmouth Lions Club President Chris Rignall said: "After an excellent meal and relatively brief speeches, those present worked off the excess calories by dancing 'till midnight to the sounds of the Alan Francis Disco.
"This year, the District Governor's wife's chosen charity is Childrens Hospice South West and during the speeches Heather Lang was presented with a £300 cheque to add to the funds donated by other Lions Clubs in this District for this charity."

Principal guests at the event were District Governor Lion Graham Lang and his wife Heather and District Officer Lion Ralph Hibbert and his wife Ann from Honiton.
District Governor Graham, who is a member of Looe Lions Club in Cornwall, is responsible for all of the Lions Clubs in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
