THE Lions Club of Sidmouth held its annual Christmas social for elderly and disabled residents in the town and the Sid Valley on Tuesday.
THE Lions Club of Sidmouth held its annual Christmas social for elderly and disabled residents in the town and the Sid Valley on Tuesday.
Nearly 90 people were transported by Sidmouth Voluntary Services minibuses and cars from their homes to St Francis’ Church Hall for an afternoon of entertainment and tea.
A good number of guests were over 90 years of age with the oldest, Olive Chorley, aged 95.
Lions Club organisers said they were indebted to the Choir of St Nicholas School and the Knowle House Singers for providing entertainment. Tea was produced and served by the Lions Ladies.
Kathryn Badcock, assisted by Steph Dommett, worked hard with the school choir.
Ian Skinner, president of the Lions Club, thanked everyone who attended and assisted with the event, now a firm annual favourite for people who find it difficult to get out of their homes without assistance.
