The Lions Club of Sidmouth has donated £500 to boost a service to help volunteers provide financial, employment and housing support.

The group chose to support Citizens Advice East Devon (CAED) after a talk from Hilary Nelson, CEO of strategy and development at the charity.

CAED provides free advice through local surgeries and is dependant on grants and donations.

In Sidmouth, there is a drop-in and appointment service at the library, in Blackmore Drive, every Tuesday morning.

Hilary said: “Our dedicated volunteer advisors aim to help any client resolve their problem, whatever that may be, either by providing advice or by directing them to someone who can help resolve their difficulty.

“We are aware that there are many in need in our local community.

“We are actively looking for ways that we can help more people in Sidmouth, either by increasing our opening hours or by actively working with other agencies providing support in the Sid Valley.”
