Sidmouth Lions Club’s duck races raised more than £5,500 and the winning businesses have handed over their shares to their chosen causes.
The £900 first prize from the corporate duck race was shared between Hair Studio owner Helen Neal and Good as New proprietor Hilary Bevis, who gave her half to the Sidmouth Victoria Hospital Comforts Fund.
Second place went to Sidmouth Chiropractic Centre and senior practitioner Julie Englefield is donating her £600 prize to Children’s Hospice South West. The third prize of £400 was won by Hotel Riviera, where proprietor Peter Wharton will be giving his prize money to Devon Air Ambulance. There was also a yellow duck race for members of the public, which raised £3,600 for the Lions’ chosen charities, which were Sidmouth Lifeboat and Prostate Cancer UK’s Sledgehammer Cancer Fund.
