A 35-year-old man has appeared in court charged with an aggravated burglary in which a seven-year-old boy was allegedly confronted by a knifeman.
Sean Day, of Lock Close, Sidmouth, is accused of burgling the isolated cottage near Sidmouth on the night of Monday, March 30.
Exeter Magistrates’ court heard Day was also charged with a public order offence during his arrest and taking a car without the owner’s consent.
Bail was refused by the court and Day was remanded in custody.
He will appear before a judge at Exeter Crown Court later this month.
