A SIDMOUTH Waitrose worker came to the aid of a woman whose husband fell ill last week.
Philip Thorne, 43, was driving to work from his Colyton home at around 6am on Bank Holiday Monday when a woman flagged him down.
The distressed woman explained to Philip her 80-year-old husband had taken ill in the caravan where they were staying, near Colyton, and she needed a telephone to ring an ambulance.
Obligingly Philip lent her his mobile phone and gave the woman a lift back to the caravan to check on her husband.

Philip, of Moorfield, said: "I didn't do anything that anyone else wouldn't have done. The lady had been knocking on houses trying to raise somebody but there are only a couple on that road and it must've been too early in the morning.
"She was very grateful when I stopped and said I was an angel!"
