A Sidmouth man who sent abusive, aggressive and threatening texts, emails and calls to his former partner has narrowly escaped jail.

A Sidmouth man who sent abusive, aggressive and threatening texts, emails and calls to his former partner has narrowly escaped jail.

Robert Leslie Marshall, of Whitethorn Close, Woolbrook was sentenced to six weeks in custody suspended for two years after pleading guilty to harassment at Exeter Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The charge related to a number of incidents between May 28 and May 31, 2016.

The 49-year-old was ordered to pay £85 in costs, £115 in compensation and was made subject to a two year restraining order which means he cannot enter Temple Street, Volunteer Inn or Holmsley Care Home.
